Ex-pect (ik spekt') vt, (L. ex-, out + spectare, to look)
1. to look for as likely to occur or appear 2. to look for as proper or necessary 3. (Colloq.) to suppose; guess

I EXPECT.
I have tried not to, as I have been told, particularly in last number of years that I should not have any expectaions; that is, after hearing for years that I have too high expectations of others…
Do I?
Or, has this been another one of those little “new age” convenient catchy phrases that would cover any one’s rear end absolving them from responsibility? Perhaps, a little mantra-phrase in the vicinity of the idea/concept of poverty being a virtue… highly convenient for a few, devastating for others?

I EXPECT.
I expect that my expectations are part of my human nature, just as breathing is.

What makes this statement really “extraordinary” is that what I feel as minimal, basic dignity and survival expectations, are perceived to be “too much” or in other words, unreasonable.

So, I will monologue to myself most likely, but, this also all right, as it is an exercise on how to respond next time, when me and my expectations are not welcome. When me and my humble expectation are being bulldozed around.
It’s becoming rather old being told that people “do not know any better”. Well, it IS high time they knew better!
I am not going to give up or change my expectations simply because they are “inconvenient” to others.

I expect kindness, compassion, respect, basic common courtesy – any one, at any given time will do… but the lack of, won’t. Particularly from those I interact with on a regular basis.

I EXPECT MORE AND BETTER.
I DESERVE IT.
EACH ONE OF US DESERVES IT.
